A man was arrested in flagrante for drunk driving after causing a motorcycle accident near Mercado União in central Xapuri, Acre. According to the Civil Police, the suspect was traveling at high speed when he lost control of his motorcycle while crossing a preferential road, mounting the sidewalk and striking a bicycle.
Law enforcement officers intercepted the suspect, who attempted to flee following the collision. A breathalyzer test revealed an alcohol level of 0.49 mg/L, a concentration that constitutes a traffic crime under the Brazilian Traffic Code. The individual was also found to be driving without a valid driver's license.
Investigations revealed that the suspect, a native of Xapuri, had been under electronic monitoring but had broken his ankle monitor several months prior to live in a rural area, evading judicial supervision. Police had been actively searching for him. Additionally, the man had recently been identified on social media as a suspect in a motorcycle theft in the rural area of Brasiléia. He was taken to the Civil Police Station for legal proceedings.
