Man arrested for murder of nurse in Erode district

A 23-year-old man, identified as Saravanan, has been arrested for the murder of a 26-year-old nurse, Uthra, in the Erode district of Tamil Nadu. The victim, a native of Ramanathapuram district, went missing on October 14 after leaving her workplace at a private hospital in Tirupur.

Her body was discovered in a decomposed state near the Vijayamangalam toll plaza. Police investigations, which included reviewing CCTV footage, revealed that Uthra had traveled with the suspect on his two-wheeler. Authorities determined that Saravanan strangled the victim with her dupatta and stole her three-sovereign gold chain.

The suspect, who was a staff member at the same hospital and a nursing assistant student, has been remanded in judicial custody following his confession. The stolen jewelry was recovered by the police.
