Violent crimes and police arrests reported across Angola and Brazil
Various violent crimes and subsequent police actions have been reported across Angola and Brazil. In Angola, a 43-year-old woman was detained in Lubango for allegedly killing her husband following a dispute over money.
In Brazil, several high-profile incidents involving domestic violence and homicide have occurred. In Ceará, a man was arrested for attempting to kill his ex-partner with 12 knife wounds, while in Belo Horizonte, a man's arrest for killing his ex-partner was converted to preventive detention. In Mato Grosso, a man died in a confrontation with police after killing his partner and wounding his son. Other cases include a man arrested in Massachusetts, USA, for the alleged strangulation of a woman, and a 24-year-old arrested in Petrolina for an attempted robbery against a ride-share driver.
Law enforcement has also addressed cases of elder abuse, such as a teenager in Mato Grosso threatening his grandmother, and child abuse, involving the arrest of a mother and stepfather in São João da Boa Vista for torturing a one-year-old. Additionally, a long-term fugitive was captured in Bahia after 18 years on the run for an attempted murder committed in Espírito Santo.
