Man arrested in Coahuila for fatal saber attack on son-in-law

A 55-year-old man, identified as José Alfredo “N”, was arrested in Coahuila, Mexico, following a fatal attack during a family gathering in General Cepeda. The incident reportedly stemmed from the father's disapproval of the seven-month relationship between his 24-year-old daughter, María “N”, and her 71-year-old partner, Víctor.

During a dispute, José Alfredo “N” allegedly attacked Víctor with a saber, inflicting a deep chest wound that damaged vital organs. María “N” attempted to intervene to stop the assault and was also struck by the weapon, resulting in the loss of three fingers.

While being transported from a health center in General Cepeda to a hospital in Saltillo, Víctor suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and died around 2:00 AM. Following the attack, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by security forces. The Criminal Investigation Agency subsequently executed an arrest warrant. He is currently held in the Saltillo men's prison, facing investigation for aggravated homicide and intentional injury.
