Man arrested in El Royo after two dogs kill another
The Civil Guard has arrested a man in El Royo, Soria, for animal cruelty resulting in death. The incident occurred in October when two American Bully dogs escaped from a residence and attacked a Jack Russell terrier that was being walked on a leash by its owner.
Following an investigation by the Nature Protection Service (Seprona), authorities determined the owner failed to meet the legal obligations for the surveillance and control of potentially dangerous dogs. The owner was unable to provide required health documentation or civil liability insurance at the time of the incident.
The case has been referred to the Courts of Soria. Under the Penal Code, such offenses can carry prison sentences of 12 to 24 months and disqualification from owning animals.
