Man Arrested in Mexico After Decade on the Run for 2014 Veracruz Teen Murder
Mexican authorities captured Ernesto "N" in San Luis Potosí after he evaded police for more than ten years. He was wanted for the 2014 killing of his 17‑year‑old ex‑partner Yamilet in Veracruz, a case classified as femicide.
The investigation traced Yamilet’s disappearance on 22 December 2014, her body’s discovery in the La Pochota colony on 20 January 2015, and the subsequent filing of a criminal case (14/2022) in the Veracruz district court. Witnesses reported seeing Ernesto with the victim on the day she vanished, and the autopsy confirmed multiple signs of violence.
Ernesto’s apprehension brings the long‑running case to a conclusion, ending a decade of flight that saw him move out of state to avoid capture.
