Man arrested in Murcia after threatening mother and attacking police

A 25-year-old man was arrested in Santiago de la Ribera, San Javier, following a violent confrontation involving his mother and local police. The incident began around 4:00 AM when emergency services received reports of an agitated man threatening his mother with knives at a residence on Paseo Colón.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect holding a large knife and shouting insults. Although his partner managed to disarm him twice, the man repeatedly produced additional knives from his waistband and clothing. The situation escalated when the suspect entered the house and later lunged at officers while wielding two knives.

To incapacitate the individual, an officer deployed a JPX defence pistol, a non-lethal weapon that uses a high-speed stream of pepper extract. Following the deployment, police were able to immobilize and arrest the suspect. He has been taken to the Civil Guard barracks and faces suspected charges of domestic violence and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
