Santa Catarina man sentenced to 62 years for sexual abuse

A man has been sentenced to 62 years and four months in prison for the sexual abuse of his partner's three granddaughters in a municipality within the Greater Florianópolis region of Santa Catarina.

The abuses occurred over a seven-year period, beginning when the victims were between 7 and 9 years old. The crimes were discovered after the three sisters reported the incidents at their school, prompting pedagogical staff to notify the Guardianship Council.

According to the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina (MPSC), the perpetrator exploited his position of trust and the family's daily routine to commit the assaults. The victims detailed that the incidents took place inside their homes while their mother and grandmother were away, or during times when the defendant was alone with them.
