Man arrested in Santurtzi after katana assault on partner and her father

Police in Santurtzi detained a 31‑year‑old man after he attacked his 34‑year‑old partner and her 68‑year‑old father with a katana. The incident began with a domestic dispute, during which the suspect assaulted his partner, fled to his parents’ house, and wounded the father’s hand and leg. The father was taken to hospital. Officers also recovered a metal baton, a wooden‑handled pole, and a piece of a golf club at the scene. The suspect was charged with gender‑based violence, injuries and property damage and presented before a court.

The investigation noted the suspect’s reckless driving and vehicle damage while attempting to flee. The victim and her father filed complaints with the Ertzaintza, and the woman received medical treatment for bruises and contusions.
