Man arrested in São José do Rio Preto for animal cruelty
A 56-year-old man was arrested in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, for animal cruelty after being caught on security footage attacking two dogs with a wooden stick. The incident, which occurred in the Alvorada neighborhood, resulted in the death of one dog.
Neighbors alerted the Municipal Civil Guard after hearing the animals in distress. While the suspect claimed he was attempting to separate the dogs during a fight and hit them accidentally, he was taken into custody at the Central de Flagrantes. One dog survived the attack but remains in delicate condition with neurological sequels at the Unirp Veterinary Hospital.
