Bogotá crime: Suspect charged in death of nine-year-old Ana Lucía González

Authorities in Colombia are investigating the death of nine-year-old Ana Lucía González, whose body was discovered in a sewer in the Ciudad Bolívar district of Bogotá. The primary suspect, Shenner José Rojas Lárez, a Venezuelan national and the former partner of the victim's sister, has been captured and faces charges including aggravated feminicide, abusive sexual intercourse with a minor, and sexual acts with a minor.

The investigation suggests the crime may have been an act of vicarious violence, intended as retaliation against the victim's sister following a domestic dispute in Mosquera. Security camera footage reportedly tracked the suspect moving the child from Mosquera to Bogotá on a motorcycle. Preliminary medical reports from Medicina Legal indicate the cause of death was mechanical asphyxia.

During a recent court hearing, Rojas Lárez pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Fiscalía General de la Nación continues to analyze evidence, including digital data and the victim's final movements, to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
