Ceilândia Sul metro station sees surge in violent incidents

A series of violent incidents at the Ceilândia Sul metro station in the Distrito Federal has heightened security concerns among commuters. On Monday, a 17-year-old student was attacked with a glass bottle inside a women-only carriage. The assailant, described by witnesses as having a history of psychiatric issues, broke a window and jumped onto the tracks while the train was in motion. He was treated at the Ceilândia Regional Hospital and faced police escort for legal proceedings.

In a separate incident at the same station on the same morning, a 24-year-old man was arrested for attempted robbery. The suspect allegedly used a knife to threaten a 30-year-old woman, wounding her in the abdomen. A military police officer intervened, preventing the robbery and detaining the suspect, who has a prior record for robbery and domestic violence.

Passengers have expressed growing fear regarding safety on the Metrô-DF, noting that even designated women-only carriages have not prevented aggression. Authorities are investigating the incidents and increasing patrols in the region.
