Man claiming to be SBS comedian accused of bar disturbance in Hongdae

A man claiming to be an SBS open recruitment comedian is facing legal action following a disturbance at a whisky bar near Hongdae Station in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 3.

The conflict reportedly began when a member of the man's group reacted aggressively toward a foreign customer who attempted to shake hands. When staff intervened, the man allegedly directed verbal abuse at the owner and employees, shouting, “I am an SBS open recruitment comedian,” and throwing a beer glass, which shattered.

The man also allegedly made false claims to responding police officers, asserting that a female employee had assaulted him and caused a shoulder dislocation. Furthermore, the group left the establishment without paying for their drinks, claiming they could not settle the bill because the owner had cleared their bottles too early. The owner has filed a police complaint against the man for property damage, obstruction of business, and failure to pay for consumed alcohol.
