Ghislain Quiroz confesses to 2008 murder of Mariana Sepúlveda
A 42-year-old man, Ghislain Jesús Quiroz Carrizo, has confessed to the murder of Mariana Sepúlveda, a 19-year-old student who disappeared in the Conchalí commune in August 2008.
Quiroz, who was a neighbor of the victim, voluntarily approached the 5th Police Station in Conchalí to provide his testimony. According to his statement, he killed Sepúlveda following a dispute and buried her body in his residence. He further claimed to have moved the remains five years later to hide the crime.
Following the confession, Carabineros and the OS9 unit conducted forensic investigations at the suspect's property. During these excavations, authorities reportedly discovered a small bone sample. The 2° Juzgado de Garantía de Santiago has extended Quiroz's detention to allow the Fiscalía Metropolitana Centro Norte to complete necessary forensic and scientific reports before formalizing charges.
