A man has confessed to strangling his girlfriend and abandoning her body in the Yangmingshan area after a dispute over their relationship and suspected infidelity.
The suspect, identified as a man surnamed Zhou, and the victim, a woman surnamed Zheng, had been living together in Sanchong, New Taipei City. Following arguments regarding finances and relationship issues, Zheng had expressed intentions to end the relationship. On August 16, after a trip to Yangmingshan, Zheng went missing.
Zhou initially claimed that Zheng had left his vehicle in anger during an argument in the Tamsui area. However, police tracking his vehicle's movements revealed suspicious idling near Pingjing Street in Yangmingshan, where they discovered Zheng's skeletal remains. Upon being informed that the body had been found, Zhou confessed to the killing, citing jealousy as his motive.
Investigations revealed that following the crime, Zhou drove the victim's phone through Tamsui and Sanzhi for several days in an attempt to mislead investigators. He also sold the vehicle to a second-hand dealer for 100,000 TWD. Police are proceeding with charges related to murder and body disposal.
