Man dies after being swept away by wave in La Paz
A 34-year-old man, identified as Raúl, died on Saturday after being swept away by a wave in the San Pedrito de Las Palmas area of El Pescadero, located in the municipality of La Paz, Baja California Sur.
According to reports, the victim had arrived early in the morning with his partner for recreational fishing. While attempting to collect water with a bucket near a rocky area, a wave struck him and pulled him into the sea. Witnesses noted that the man did not know how to swim, and the heavy surf prevented bystanders from providing immediate assistance.
Emergency responders, including the Todos Santos Fire Department and personnel from the Mexican Navy (Semar), arrived at the scene. Preliminary reports indicate the man was seen floating among the rocks before drifting further out to sea, appearing to have no vital signs. The State Criminal Investigation Agency has arrived to manage the recovery of the body and initiate official proceedings.
