Man dies after falling into Bergsche Maas near Waspik, Netherlands

On Wednesday a 67‑year‑old man from Oisterwijk went missing after his boat capsized in the Bergsche Maas near Waspik, Netherlands. Emergency services received a call at about 15:30 and launched a large‑scale search involving fire‑fighter divers, a police helicopter and the national underwater investigation team (LTOZ).

A sonar boat located the body around 21:00 and police confirmed the man had died. The investigation suggests the boat may have run out of fuel, preventing it from avoiding a collision; other passengers reached safety. The Oosterhout fire brigade assisted with a high‑reach platform. Police continue to examine the exact cause.
