Man dies at 30 from acute diabetes complications
A 30-year-old man, identified as Mr. Wang from China, has passed away due to acute diabetes complications. He collapsed into a deep coma while working in an office, exhibiting severe exhaustion and respiratory distress.
Medical examinations revealed an extremely high blood glucose level of 35 mmol/L, which is more than five times the normal limit. Doctors determined the cause of death was hyperosmolar coma, a dangerous complication of diabetes where high blood sugar leads to severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, and brain damage. This specific complication carries a mortality rate of 20% to 30%.
According to family members, Mr. Wang had normal blood sugar levels ten years prior when he was thin. However, following an emotional shock, he experienced uncontrolled weight gain, eventually reaching over 100kg. Medical professionals noted that long-term obesity led to insulin resistance, causing his blood sugar to rise silently over a decade due to poor dietary habits, specifically regarding his daily breakfast choices.
