Man Dies from Electrocution While Heating Water in León, Guanajuato

A 20‑year‑old man known locally as “El Tecoma” (also reported as “El Tacoma”) was fatally electrocuted while trying to heat water for a bath in his home in the San Joaquín colony of León, Guanajuato. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of San Rafael and Santa Cristina streets, where the victim placed an electric resistance in a bucket of water while wet and barefoot. Neighbors reported sparks from external wiring and called 911. Firefighters, municipal police and paramedics arrived, but could confirm no vital signs. State prosecutors and forensic investigators later examined the scene, attributing the death to a combination of a wet floor and a faulty electrical installation.

The tragedy prompted an investigation by the Fiscalía General del Estado de Guanajuato to determine the exact cause of the electrocution.
