Ronan King killed in Donegal road crash as Gardaí appeal for witnesses
A fatal two‑vehicle collision occurred on the R232 at Fincashel near Pettigo, County Donegal, on Sunday 2 August 2026 at about 2:45 pm. The crash involved a car and a 4×4 vehicle. The driver of the car, a man in his 20s identified as Ronan King of Lurgan, County Armagh, was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in her 20s was taken to University Hospital Letterkenny with serious injuries, and the 60‑year‑old driver of the 4×4 was also transported for assessment.
Garda Síochána closed the road for forensic examination and issued an appeal for anyone with dash‑cam or other footage of the area at the time of the collision to contact authorities. The Coroner has been notified and a post‑mortem will be arranged for the deceased.
The incident marks the ninth road death in Donegal this year and has prompted community mourning and calls for road safety awareness.
