Man dies of suspected heart attack at Yucatán service center

A man died on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, while waiting in line to process his driver's license at the Yucatán Service Center in northern Mérida. The facility is managed by the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).

The individual reportedly suffered a heart attack while driving a pickup truck toward the parking test zone. When his vehicle stopped, police officers directing traffic noticed he was unconscious and requested emergency medical assistance. Although the facility is an SSP building, it does not have on-site paramedics; however, SSP emergency services arrived shortly after.

Rescuers attempted to revive the man using CPR, but he could not be saved. State police secured the area and suspended administrative procedures at the center while waiting for the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) to arrive and conduct the necessary investigations.
