Man distributes 200 life jackets on Hung Yen bridges

Pham Huu Quang, a 30-year-old resident of Hung Yen, has personally funded and distributed 200 life jackets to be hung on various bridges across the province. The initiative was inspired by the death of Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Tung, who tragically drowned while attempting to rescue a person from the Tra Ly River on September 12.

Quang chose life jackets over traditional buoys because they are more cost-effective and easier to use for both victims and rescuers. Each jacket is secured to bridge railings in visible locations and features the message, “Life jacket, please do not steal,” to discourage theft. Quang stated that he is self-funding the project and has declined offers of donations, as he prefers to conduct his charitable work using his own resources. He hopes the equipment will provide a vital chance for people in emergency situations to return safely to their families.
