Man drowns at Pirate Beach Open Air festival near Karlsruhe
A 27-year-old man died after drowning in Giesen See following the Pirate Beach Open Air techno festival in Linkenheim-Hochstetten, near Karlsruhe. The man had been reported missing by his relatives around 3:00 AM on Sunday, August 31.
Emergency services conducted a search involving rescue dogs, thermal imaging cameras, and drones. His lifeless body was eventually discovered by the fire department and DLRG using boats at approximately 8:30 AM.
Police stated that, based on current findings, foul play is excluded and the death is believed to be an accidental drowning. The festival organizers expressed that they are ‘deeply shocked’ by the tragic event and extended their condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased.
