Man funds 200 life jackets for bridges in Hung Yen

Pham Huu Quang, a 30-year-old resident of Hung Yen, has personally funded the purchase and installation of 200 life jackets on local bridges. The initiative aims to provide emergency assistance to prevent drowning incidents.

Quang was inspired by the sacrifice of Major Tran Van Tung, who died while attempting to rescue a young man from the Tra Ly River. Having witnessed numerous tragic drowning cases over his four years of volunteer work, Quang chose life jackets over traditional lifebuoys due to their lower cost, ease of use, and ability to ensure the safety of both the victim and the rescuer.

Quang stated that he declined offers for donations, preferring to fund the project entirely from his own pocket to maintain his practice of independent charity work. The life jackets feature messages asking passersby not to steal them.
