Man granted bail in Manitoba assault case as another faces arson charges
A 21‑year‑old man, Luke Mathison‑Lindsay, was granted bail by Judge Patrick Sullivan in Brandon Provincial Court after being charged with aggravated assault. The charge stems from a March 12 incident at Brandon University where an 18‑year‑old female student was critically injured. Trial dates have not yet been set.
In a separate incident in Winnipeg, 24‑year‑old Timothy Bret McKay was charged with arson, assault with a weapon, assault and resisting a peace officer after threatening a security guard with a knife and setting fire to an apartment on Sherbrook Street. The blaze forced about two dozen tenants, including children, to evacuate. McKay was taken to hospital with minor injuries; one officer was treated for smoke inhalation.
