Man Hospitalized After Murder of Woman in Avižieniai, Vilnius District

A 31‑year‑old man (born 1994) stabbed a 43‑year‑old woman (born 1983) in the village of Avižieniai, located in the Vilnius district. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene around 14:40. The suspect also injured himself with a knife and was taken to a hospital in Vilnius for treatment. Police confirmed that the man had previously been subject to a protection order for domestic violence. An investigative procedure has been opened under Article 129 of the Criminal Code, which carries a potential prison term of eight to twenty years.

The incident follows a prior report of domestic violence, with the woman having called the police earlier that day. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the murder.
