Man indicted for false reporting of theft in Široki Brijeg

The Municipal Court in Široki Brijeg has confirmed an indictment against V. G. for the crime of false reporting. According to the West Herzegovina Canton Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, the individual reported a theft that never occurred.

In March 2025, V. G. informed the Posušje Police Station that unknown persons had stolen 1,500 euros and 2,200 KM from an apartment shared with his wife, A. G., between February 13 and March 30, 2025. However, prosecutors allege that V. G. had actually taken the money himself to address personal financial difficulties.

The indictment states that the funds were hidden in locations known only to the couple. V. G. reportedly confessed to the police on April 4, 2025, admitting that he filed the report to justify the disappearance of the savings. He faces charges under Article 347, paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
