Man investigated for alleged sexual harassment on bus in São José do Rio Preto

A 74-year-old man is under investigation following allegations of sexual harassment on a public bus in São José do Rio Preto. The incident occurred at the city's Urban Terminal around 6:20 p.m., involving two 14-year-old adolescents and a 6-year-old child.

Witnesses reported that the suspect repeatedly approached the youths and engaged in inappropriate physical contact, despite many other seats being available. Passengers intervened to stop the behavior, and the man was detained by bystanders and security personnel until the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) arrived.

One of the adolescents required medical attention from SAMU due to emotional distress and was taken to the Hospital da Criança e Maternidade. The suspect denied the allegations, claiming he only spoke to passengers and that any physical contact was accidental due to the bus moving through a curve. The case has been referred to the Women's Defense Police Station (DDM), and authorities are reviewing security camera footage.
