Man placed in preventive detention for gender‑based violence in Santa Fe, Argentina

A man identified only by the initials JIS was ordered into preventive detention by Judge Nicolás Falkenberg at the request of prosecutor Florencia Zarabia. The detention follows investigations into a series of gender‑based violent incidents that occurred between March and May in Recreo, a locality in the province of Santa Fe. According to the prosecutor, JIS assaulted his former partner, threatened the family, and physically grabbed one of their children, prompting the child to escape and call the police. Further allegations include the accused kicking objects in a storage area of the home on 13 May and threatening his ex‑partner again. He faces charges of coercive threats and simple threats.

The case is being pursued by the Ministry of Public Prosecution (MPA), with Zarabia stating that the defendant’s actions were intended to intimidate his family and impede their freedom of action.
