Man recovers after being stung by more than 300 bees in Phu Tho

A 62-year-old man is recovering after being stung by more than 300 bees at Hoa Binh General Hospital in Phu Tho. The incident occurred while the man was observing a relative collecting honey; despite being over 200 meters away from the hive and wearing protective clothing, the bees attacked him.

Medical staff identified the patient as suffering from Grade II anaphylaxis and a high risk of systemic venom toxicity. Doctors had to mobilize several staff members to manually remove numerous stingers from his body, including one bee found deep inside his ear. To prevent complications such as organ damage, the patient underwent early adsorption hemodialysis.

By the seventh day of treatment, the patient's creatine kinase (CK) levels, an indicator of muscle damage, dropped significantly from over 7,500 to approximately 500. His clinical condition is stabilizing and he is recovering well. Doctors warned that mass bee stings can lead to severe complications including rhabdomyolysis, hemolysis, acute kidney injury, and multi-organ failure.
