Man sentenced for 2020 murder in Cúcuta

A judge has sentenced Roger Stiward Puerto Puerto to 23 years in prison for the 2020 murder of 21-year-old Camilo Alexis Gelvez Pasto in the Cuberos Niño neighborhood of Cúcuta. Puerto was found responsible for aggravated homicide, attempted homicide, and illegal possession of firearms.

The attack occurred on April 28, 2020, when two men on a motorcycle approached Gelvez Pasto and his partner. After being called by his nickname, the victim was shot multiple times. His partner was also wounded in the attack. Investigations suggested the crime was linked to drug trafficking, as Gelvez Pasto was under house arrest at the time.

Puerto, who was 19 at the time of the crime, had been on the most wanted list in the border region since 2020. While Puerto has been convicted, one other suspect remains at large, and a third individual, identified as Audiel Enrique Isidro Arredondo, is deceased.
