Man sentenced to 1.5 years for acid attack on mistress in Busan

A 60‑year‑old man (identified as A) was convicted in Busan for throwing an acid‑based chemical containing hydrochloric acid at the face of his longtime mistress (B) after suspecting her of infidelity. The attack injured B’s face, causing burns that required four weeks of treatment and left her with ongoing speech and hearing issues. A had also threatened B by phone, saying “you’re dead.” The Busan District Court, presided over by Judge Huh Seong‑min, found A guilty of special injury, intimidation and related charges, and imposed a prison term of one year and six months.

The court noted the severity of the injury and the psychological and physical pain suffered by the victim, emphasizing the seriousness of the assault.
