Man sentenced to 27 years for abusing granddaughter in Santa Catarina

A 60-year-old man has received a definitive prison sentence of 27 years and two months for the sexual abuse of his five-year-old granddaughter in the Greater Florianópolis region. The conviction, following an action by the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina, also includes a requirement to pay R$ 30,000 in financial reparations to the victim.

Investigations revealed that the abuses occurred in July 2025, when the perpetrator lured the child to an isolated area near a river under the pretext of bathing a dog. The man also violated protective orders by attempting to contact the child months later. The sentence is final, with no possibility of further appeals, and the defendant is serving his term at the Florianópolis Male Prison.
