Man survives mistaken‑identity shooting in Dublin suburb

A 45‑year‑old man was shot in the shoulder while sitting with his wife inside a van at St Killian’s Park in Clondalkin, Dublin, on the night of 4 August 2026. Police say the attack, carried out by a gunman on a motorcycle at about 20:55, was likely aimed at the victim’s young relative – a known criminal with previous convictions for violent and drug‑related offences – and that the victim was an innocent by‑stander.

Gardaí have opened an investigation, have not made any arrests and are urging anyone with information or dash‑cam footage from the area to come forward. The victim was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries.
