Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun win French Open badminton title
Malaysian men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun secured the French Open title after defeating compatriots Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani in the final at the Arena Grand Paris. The world number 11 pair overcame a first-set deficit to win 13-21, 21-15, 21-7 in a 44-minute match.
This victory marks the pair's first BWF World Tour Super 750 title and ends a 22-year drought for Malaysia at the French Open, with the last title being won in 2004. Man Wei Chong noted that playing with an underdog mentality helped reduce pressure following his recovery from a knee injury. The win also brings the head-to-head record between the two Malaysian pairs to a 2-2 tie.
