Mana Mellat launches Iran's first official currency investment fund
Iran is launching its first official currency-based investment fund, Mana Mellat, through the stock market. The fund is designed to allow investors to generate returns on dollar-denominated assets rather than simply profiting from the devaluation of the Rial against the Dollar.
According to the Securities and Exchange Organization, the subscription period begins on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The initial offering consists of 990,000 ordinary investment units, with a base value of 10 USD per unit and a minimum purchase requirement of 10 units (100 USD). The fund will invest in low-risk, liquid foreign currency instruments, such as foreign currency Murabaha bonds, certificates of deposit, and foreign letter of credit discounting.
Seyyed Arash Shahrayini, Director of the Foreign Currency Financing Department at the Central Bank of Iran, stated that the fund is the result of months of cooperation between the Central Bank and the Securities and Exchange Organization. He confirmed that the Central Bank will maintain full oversight of all foreign exchange processes, including the issuance and cancellation of units and all currency-related payments.
Both individuals and legal entities can invest using cash, foreign exchange transfers, and non-export foreign currency income. Shahrayini also noted that other banks have received licenses and are expected to launch similar funds in the near future.
