Manabí receives 4.8 million units of medicine and medical supplies

The Ecuadorian Ministry of Public Health has delivered 4.8 million units of medicines and medical devices to health centers and hospitals in the Manabí province. This shipment, valued at approximately USD 341,000, was acquired through a centralized purchasing process.

The delivery includes 35 types of medications—such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anti-hypertensives, anticonvulsants, and oncology treatments like imatinib and capecitabina—alongside 33 types of medical devices. This initiative brings the total investment in medical supplies for Manabí via centralized purchasing to over USD 7.3 million, with more than 13 million total units distributed to the province's health network to date.

Additionally, the government is managing international acquisitions to ensure continuous supply, including a planned purchase of medicines from India scheduled for September, which has faced technical delays due to document translation requirements.
