Managing household pests like bed bugs and dust mites

Homeowners face various challenges with household pests, particularly bed bugs and dust mites. Bed bugs are noted for being difficult to eradicate due to their secretive nature; they hide in mattresses, furniture, and small cracks during the day and emerge at night. They are known to spread through travel, shared housing, and second-hand items, often moving through wall gaps in apartment buildings.

In addition to bed bugs, dust mites and spiders present seasonal concerns. Dust mites thrive in warm, humid environments created by indoor heating, feeding on skin flakes in bedding and potentially triggering allergies. To manage these pests, some suggest natural deterrents, such as a mixture of white vinegar and scented essential oils, alongside regular cleaning and hot washing of linens.
