Managing sweat and odor during wedding ceremonies

Weddings can trigger significant sweating due to a combination of emotional stress and physical heat. According to Bivash Dasgupta, R&D Manager at Degree Deodorant, two types of sweat glands are activated during such events.

Eccrine sweat glands produce watery sweat to regulate body temperature, while apocrine glands, located in areas like the underarms, produce oily sweat in response to emotional triggers. When skin microbes break down apocrine sweat, it can produce strong odors.

To manage these effects, experts suggest using clinical-strength antiperspirants that provide dual protection through both odor control and sweat reduction, as standard daily products may not withstand the intense conditions of a wedding day.
