Managua inaugurates new fire station to enhance emergency response

The Nicaraguan government has inaugurated fire station number 240, named ‘Managua, Linda Managua’, located in the San Juan neighborhood of Managua. The new facility is designed to strengthen emergency response capabilities in Districts I, III, VI, and surrounding areas.

Commissioned General Ramón Landeros, head of Bomberos Unidos de Nicaragua, noted that the number of fire stations in the country has increased from 32 in 2007 to 240 today. The station aims to ensure emergency response times do not exceed 10 minutes to protect lives and property.

The facility is equipped with six specialized vehicles, including a 50-meter ladder truck capable of reaching buildings up to 18 stories high, a 4,000-gallon cistern, a 2,000-gallon water truck, a specialized rescue unit for collapsed structures, and an ambulance for pre-hospital care. Additionally, personnel will provide inspection and prevention services for electrical installations in residential and commercial areas.
