Managua recognizes 30 individuals for preserving traditional crafts

Thirty individuals in the department of Managua were recognized for their contributions to preserving traditional crafts and gastronomy. The awards were presented during an event at the Casa de Cultura y Creatividad Bayardo Ortiz as part of the Departmental Contest of Our Traditional Crafts and Gastronomy.

Recognized participants included specialists in weaving, watchmaking, floristry, and the creation of traditional attire, such as huipiles and mariachi costumes. Among the honorees was María José López of Creaciones Maché, who produces regional huipiles and traditional dance outfits. Managua Mayor Reyna Rueda noted that the event serves to recognize the labor of those transmitting technical knowledge and processes to new generations.
