Manasija Monastery receives 464 million dinars for restoration
The Serbian Ministry of Culture has allocated approximately 464 million dinars for the project ‘Protection and Presentation of the Manasija Monastery’. The agreement was signed by Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković and the monastery's abbot, Protosinđel Pavle.
This funding, combined with previous transfers, brings the total state investment for the monastery to 553.6 million dinars over the last nine months. The current funds are designated for the restoration of the monastery's refectory—described as the most monumental in the Serbian Orthodox Church within Serbia—as well as the reconstruction of monastery walls and towers, and new archaeological investigations at previously unexamined sites.
As part of a three-year national program, the total investment in Manasija is expected to reach 1.046 billion dinars by next year. Minister Selaković noted that this represents the largest single amount the state has invested in a single cultural asset in Serbia in several decades.
