Manaslu and Dhaulagiri climbing expeditions disrupted by weather
Severe weather and heavy snowfall are disrupting climbing expeditions on Manaslu and Dhaulagiri. At Manaslu, which has seen the highest number of climbers this season with 493 permit holders, worsening forecasts have caused uncertainty, leading some expeditions to consider abandonment. The base camp is currently crowded with climbers, Sherpas, and support staff.
On Dhaulagiri, climbers are pausing their attempts to wait out an approaching cyclone. While Sherpas have fixed ropes up to Camp 2, recent evening snowfalls and the threat of an approaching cyclone have prompted a retreat to base camp to secure equipment. Climbers are approaching the mountain cautiously due to avalanche-prone terrain and recent fatal avalanche incidents on Broad Peak.
