Manasseh Gahima installed as Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Rwanda
The Most Revd Dr. Manasseh Gahima has been formally installed as the fifth Archbishop and Primate of the Anglican Church of Rwanda and Bishop of the Diocese of Gasabo. The consecration and enthronement ceremony took place at Camp Kigali and was attended by thousands of worshipers, international ecclesiastical dignitaries, and Rwandan Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva.
During the service, the retiring Primate, the Most Revd Dr. Laurent Mbanda, symbolically handed over the pastoral staff to Gahima, marking the transition of leadership. Dr. Mbanda, who has led the Rwandan province since 2018, will continue his global leadership role as Chairman of the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON).
The installation coincided with meetings of the Global Anglican Council held in Kigali from October 22 to 25, 2026. The Council focused on the future of the Global Anglican Communion, reaffirming commitments to the Jerusalem Declaration and the authority of scripture while maintaining a principled disengagement from the Canterbury Instruments of Communion.
