Manaus advances pedestrian bridge infrastructure projects

The City of Manaus is advancing infrastructure improvements to enhance urban mobility and pedestrian safety. Work is currently underway to modernize the pedestrian bridge on Carvalho Leal Avenue in the South Zone. The project includes structural repairs, the installation of a protective roof to increase user comfort, new painting, and the addition of protective screening.

Additionally, the Santos Dumont pedestrian bridge on Torquato Tapajós Avenue has been released for use following a two-year period. This new structure replaces a previous bridge that collapsed in July 2024 after being struck by a truck. The new bridge stands 5.5 meters high and extends 40 meters. To improve accessibility, the city is in the process of installing three elevators for people with disabilities and reduced mobility. During the transition period before the elevators are fully operational, traffic agents will assist pedestrians at the site.
