Amazonas launches 7,862‑vacancy public exam for education staff
The Government of Amazonas announced a public competition organized by the State Secretariat of Education and Sports (Seduc‑AM) offering a total of 7,862 positions for teachers, pedagogues and support staff. The recruitment, the largest for the state’s education system since 2018, will be split between the capital Manaus (2,622 vacancies) and municipalities in the interior (5,240 vacancies).
The majority of the jobs are teaching posts – 6,422 vacancies – with 2,216 in Manaus and 4,206 in the interior. There are also 433 openings for pedagogues (120 in the capital, 313 elsewhere) and 1,007 support‑staff positions (286 in Manaus, 721 in the interior). Vacancies cover a range of levels and specialisations, including indigenous education, technical assistants and basic‑level support roles.
Governor Roberto Cidade said the contest “invests in the future of Amazonas,” while Education Secretary Jander Lasmar called it “a moment people have been waiting for, and we are working to make the process swift, open and transparent.” The exam dates are to be set later in the year, with the official notice to be published in the state gazette.
