Manaus boat collision leaves two people dead

A man and a woman were found dead inside a motorboat in the Puraquequara neighborhood of Manaus on Saturday morning. The victims have been identified as 28-year-old Nalbert Silva Ferreira and a young woman known as Bruna.

Initial investigations by the Specialized Homicide and Kidnapping Police Station (DEHS) suggest the deaths were the result of a fatal accident rather than homicide. Although the presence of significant amounts of blood inside the vessel initially raised suspicions of foul play, forensic evidence indicates the boat likely collided with a bridge pillar. Authorities noted the area is very dark at night and the vessel was reportedly operating without lighting or a flashlight at the time of the impact.

A .38 caliber pistol was recovered from the boat near the bodies, but investigators stated the weapon had not been fired and shows no signs of being involved in the incident.
