Manaus celebrates 357th anniversary with urban and social initiatives
The city of Manaus is marking its 357th anniversary with a series of urban interventions, social programs, and cultural celebrations. To enhance tourism and the local economy, the Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (Implurb) has overseen the delivery and construction of various public spaces, including the Casa de Praia Zezinho Corrêa, the Lúcia Almeida lookout, and the Manaus 355 Pier. Ongoing projects include the Encontro das Águas Rosa Almeida park and the city's first Gastronomic Street.
In addition to infrastructure, the municipal government is highlighting social developments, such as the replacement of wooden school buildings with masonry structures, the expansion of daycare slots, and improvements in healthcare services. New medical appointments and the development of the first Municipal Day Hospital and a foundation for Autism Spectrum Disorder are part of these efforts. The city is also addressing housing through the delivery of hundreds of apartments via the Morar Melhor program.
Cultural and culinary tributes are also underway, featuring local art workshops and specialized confectionery using regional Amazonian ingredients like açaí, tucumã, cumaru, and Uarini flour to celebrate the city's identity.
