Manaus City Council approves mandatory disclosure of public event spending
The Manaus City Council has approved a proposal requiring the mandatory disclosure of public funds used for the promotion, support, or sponsorship of events. Once sanctioned by the mayor, the measure will require that the amounts used by the government to fund these activities be clearly and accessibly displayed to the public during the events.
Additionally, the council advanced several other legislative matters. These include a proposal for municipal public servants diagnosed with endometriosis to receive up to three days of menstrual leave per month, and an action plan for the conservation of endangered species in Manaus. Other initiatives under discussion include a program for the protection of the elderly and mechanisms to curb violence against women.
