Manaus community project provides multidisciplinary health services
The “Axé do Sorriso” project is providing multidisciplinary health services at the Ilê Axé Sesu Toyan terreiro in Manaus. This initiative is a collaboration between UniNorte (Djalma Batista Campus) and the Eruexim Institute, aimed at promoting integrative health care while respecting the knowledge of traditional communities.
The program offers a wide range of services, including dental prophylaxis for children up to 12 years old, oral hygiene guidance, and dental care kits. Nursing teams are providing preventive lectures on hypertension and diabetes, alongside glucose testing and blood pressure monitoring. Additionally, the event includes physiotherapy for myofascial release and stretching, speech therapy, and psychological support.
Legal assistance is also available through the Law course's Legal Practice Center, offering guidance on retirement, alimony, and labor issues. The project seeks to decentralize primary care and strengthen the connection between academic training and community needs.
